Week 3
WEEK 3
What did you learn this week?
Something that I learned this week is that all life cycles follow the basic pattern of birth, growth, reproduction, and death. That pattern is a CCC in the NGSS. I also learned about photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and the carbon cycle. And how they all come together. As well as the different aspects of the ecosystem. specifically biotic factors and Abiotic factors and what role they have in the ecosystem.
How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?
In the future, how I would apply what I learned is the ability to use modeling as a practice. I really like the use of play dough as that is a hands-on activity to allow students to visually see what they are doing but also be creative in it. I think that modeling is a great way for students to experience/create what they are learning about.
Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?
I remember learning about photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and the carbon cycle in 7th grade. However, we never used modeling as a way to display it. Modeling it helped me remember the key points of the life cycle. I also remember a lot of information about the ecosystem but especially forgot about biotic and abiotic factors.
Lab Photo 2/5/25
This week in lab, we modeled the life cycle of a fish. This is a metamorphosis life cycle. We also began the fast planting of a seed.

Hi Annie! I enjoyed reading your blog post for this week and we had a lot of the same responses. I also wrote about how we learned about lifecycles this week in class. I also said that I want to bring modeling into my future lessons because I think it's a great way to show you understand and it created a visual representation of the content.
